Internal migration: The enduring lure of Havana

One hundred years after Cubans flocked east following the sugar boom, the flow flipped back. Internal migrations are now markedly one-way from the East to Havana at least since the early 1960s. Today, one out of every two people who decide to change province chooses Havana or its surroundings as a destination.
