EU appoints expelled Venezuela ambassador to Havana post

EU delegation in Havana

CUBA STANDARD — The European Union’s foreign service is about to announce the appointment of Isabel Brilhante Pedrosa as head of the EU delegation to Cuba, diplomats told Cuba Standard.

The Portuguese diplomat was declared “persona non grata” by the Venezuelan government in February and left the country, after the EU imposed sanctions on Venezuelan officials, saying they undermined democracy and violated human rights.
