German airline adds Düsseldorf-Havana flights

The new route comes as tourism from Germany grew 26% last year

Air BerlinCUBA STANDARD — AirBerlin is expanding its Cuba program by offering a Düsseldorf-Havana route.

Germany’s second-largest airline will operate two weekly flights this summer season, beginning May 28.

AirBerlin, which already flies Düsseldorf-Varadero, now offers five weekly flights from Germany to Cuba. German competitors Condor and Eurowings also offer Cuban destinations, for a total of 4,700 weekly seats from Germany to the island.

Germany is the No. 3 tourism source market for Cuba, with 175,000 visitors last year, up 26%, clearly above the overall visitor growth of 17% for the year.
